Almost 600 people turned out last August to vote for their favorite mural designs during the Glenwood Arts Festival. Due to a tie for 12th place, 13 designs were selected to grace CTA and Metra underpasses throughout the ward.
On Friday, April 8th there will be a silent auction for the posterboards that were used for the vote. These beautiful boards include the original mural design of each winning artist as well as a statement from each artist describing their inspiration behind the design. Please join us at the Mayne Stage at 5 PM to take home a unique piece of Rogers Park history.

I notice one of these fabulous murals is for Fargo. Did you mean Jarvis? And does that mean the Jarvis stop will NOT be closed/???I HOPE!
[…] Ward residents also chose designs for the 13 murals that will grace underpasses below the Red Line. Check out the winning designs here: https://participatorybudgeting49.wordpress.com/2010/09/21/results-of-mural-vote/ […]
I too have been admiring Christopher Royal as he completes the South Greenleaf mural – love the vibrancy – thanks for brightening up our neighborhood! The murals will be a wonderful expression of our diversity – let’s all respect the artist’s work and the beautiful addition the murals make to our community!
It looks like The Birch Tree Mural will be waiting until Spring to be painted. We are still waitng on final approval from the CTA and most of the paints can not be used when the weather is below 65 degrees. By waiting until spring we can make sure there is plenty of time to paint and that the mural will last a very long time. Thank you all for all your support. It is such an honor.
Do go check out The faces of Rogers Park Mural. Chris started just in the nick of time and it looks fantastic!
