A one block test site for free Internet access (via Wi-Fi) on W. Howard St., from N. Paulina St. to N. Ashland Ave.
What will Rogers Park be like in the future?
Internet access should be easy and free – there will be many benefits.
Consider these scenarios:
- The library is closed, and a student needs to finish research for her homework.
- A person from Lincoln Park (that’s right, Lincoln Park!) travels here to see our many murals, using the online map while walking the neighborhood.
- A senior citizen on a fixed income wouldn’t need to pay another monthly bill.
- A traveler from Europe (no cell phone coverage) wants to check e-mail and find a restaurant.
In addition to providing free internet access to everyone in the neighborhood, this plan would also direct anyone logging onto the free network to a common Rogers Park website. The power comes from everyone seeing the same site, and being able to access it from anywhere in the neighborhood.
Residents will find out about community meetings, festival dates, bike routes. Visitors will learn more about Rogers Park and find local businesses.
Please vote for our project, and help us create a bright future for Rogers Park!
