15 multipurpose bike racks placed throughout Rogers Park to serve educational, artistic, and functional purposes
Rogers Park is a culturally diverse and globally conscious neighborhood. Many Rogers Park citizens use public transportation and ride bikes as a means of transportation. The goal of the Artistic Bike Rack Proposal is not just to establish more locations in Rogers park to lock your bike, but to establish a new and unprecedented way in which to observe public art.
Fifteen (15) bike racks would encompass three separate and distinct functions: 1) They would first and foremost be bike racks. 2) they would be Public Art pieces. 3) They would be “Educational Beacons” …each rack would convey to the public a different concept of learning as part of its function.
These racks would be a benefit to our community in three ways…1) They would provide more places to lock up bicycles and encourage healthy lifestyles.
2) They would encourage people from other communities to visit ours.
