Construction of a new garden shed; capital repairs at the Cultural Center including renovating floors and fixing a leak
The Berger Park Cultural Center is a gem of the 49th Ward and home to rich programming including writer’s workshops, ceramics programs, movies in the park, site-specific theater, Jazz Supper Club, and a gallery, among others. For five years the Center has been limited in renting space due to capital repairs needed. This directly affects their programming budget. With the needed floor replacement and leak fixes, two more art classes can be added and the mansion will be open for rentals again.
The garden shed to store materials and equipment will come in handy for the warm months. The Center is home to many weddings and other outdoor events and lacks an appropriate space for storage. The Center is in great need of these fixes to continue to serve the 49th Ward and beyond.
