$84,000
Placement of one additional bench plus one additional heated shelter on each platform at the Jarvis, Morse, and Loyola Red Line stops
Tired of being stuck out in the cold while waiting for your train? It’s time to elevate your El experience!
Providing additional shelter, warmth, and seating at these three train stations will improve the daily lives of a significant number of Ward residents while also encouraging greater use of green transportation methods.
Transit station improvements were listed as a priority at every neighborhood assembly in the fall, and a high percentage of residents use the El trains on a daily basis. Yet with current (and potentially future) CTA service cuts, extended wait times often leave transit riders standing out in the cold, especially during the winter months.
These improvements are not on the CTA’s immediate agenda or feasible in their current budget; hence if we want them to happen, we need to provide them ourselves.
Help us continue to make our community one that serves people while treading lightly on the planet, by making our transit stations comfortable for everyone.
